Life is on hold! Surgery cancelled as consultant has covid

Hi, I was due surgery on the 1st March, was so happy that I finally got a date, but on the Monday before, I got a call saying the consultant has covid and the have to cancel the surgery. Stupid covid!

I asked when would the surgery be and unfortunately they were unable to tell me! I feel like I'm back a square one again that everything is back on hold again.

I'm having high anxiety, I don't like being out among lots of people, I used to be so out going and loved meeting people, but now I just want to stay at home.

I just feel like I'm becoming a shell of my former self and that emotions are running high again.

  • Hello Kmcg21

I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery has been postponed. It's understandable that you're feeling emotional and anxious about things.

I don't know if it's an option to ask if another surgeon in the department is able to take you on as their patient to speed up a reschedule of the surgery. You could give the secretary a call and ask.

If you want to talk things through with one of our nurses for some support and advice you're most welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope that they're able to get things sorted for you soon.

    Best wishes,
