Do you really need to go to a specialist wig shop or can one be got off the internet? Any tips on measuring etc.? I'll be shaved if that makes a difference.
I don't like the ones I've seen in the shop, but quite like one on the internet.

Hi
First place to start, have you asked your hospital if they can provide you one? They often can through one of the many cancer charities they're linked to. Chat to your BCN.
I've also bought a synthetic wig from an expensive boutique (£185) and also a few cheaper wigs on the internet. (£20 to £60 range) The cheaper ones tend to be a little bit heavier than the expensive ones. But other than that there's not much in it. They're all adjustable size wise.
The online ones tend to all come from same Chinese manufacturer although watch out cos there's a big price difference for the same style on different sites
I found a company called "SheIn".(just enter it into your search bar, once on their site look in menu and search for wigs. SheIn has a huge range of colours and styles to suit everyone and lots of occsions. Their ad states they're returnable if you don't like them. (I've not returned mine)
They're very affordable. So I suggest you try one and if you like it you can get another (or more if you want to mix it up a bit!)
You can trim them to fit your face
I've been very happy with mine.
Have fun
Lillyanne xx
PS order a couple of wig caps (like tights material) because, if you're like me, once shaved your hair will grow a little bristle (even on Chemo) and the caps help reduce any discomfort.
Hi Lilyanne, great info, thank you.
I've seen a lace fronted one that I like, which is a bit expensive, and a couple of cheap ones for the craic. Now I know I need the wig caps. I'll get the order in today.
Have fun is right. If I can't turn a negative into a positive I'll be a hot mess :)
Hope you're doing good on your journey Lillyanne and thanks again x
Good luck in finding your wig. They help me feel a bit more like my old self xx
My hair's black and red, curly to my bum. Should always have had it like this :) Doing a head shave for charity, me and hubby. I think it's the best way for people not to know I've got cancer. It'll be some shock going from this to nothing and I don't think I'll be pretty....lol. Just want to make sure I've got the wig ready to go. Feeling good enough about it all at the moment. Looking forward to no grey hairs to mind.
Before it goes, I'm going to have some fun doing all the things I've not done to it, like straightners :) xx
Sounds a great idea.
If you cut it before you shave you could donate it to a charity that can use it for children's wigs. I did mine for Little Princes Trust. If that appeals to you then check on line be because you have to wash and cut it in a particular way and use eastic bands to keep it in nice strands.
Make sure you prep yourself mentally because having no hair is quite a lot to take on board, especially as like me you've always had a long style. I bought a short pixie wig which is easy to pull on for, answering the door, video calls and I use it for my Chemo sessions. It's not my favorite but it's the most useful and being short, the coolest. xx
I'm just picturing kids rocking my red and black hair - like little ozzy osbornes ....lol. Cool, I'll check it out. I'll be playing so I should find it easier to be distracted from it at the time. It's the next day I wonder about.
Hubby grew his long in lockdown and they'd been ribbing him to do it for charity. Little did we think this was coming down the road for us. At least with us both bald we'll have a giggle together. I keep imaging the ride home :) I hear you on the shock factor.
I'm really new on the journey. It's TNBC. Just off the phone from getting scan results from the nurse. Very pleasantly surprised there's nothing gone to the bones because my arms are causing me trouble and the pain is lasting for longer. Stunned my lungs are ok cos I've been able to feel something constantly for 9mths and I'm not a moaner! :) A cyst on my liver that they're going to ultra sound so I'm keeping the fingers crossed it's just that. Chemo starts next week.
Got a long wig in mind and a cheaper short one or maybe two :) The long will be the first I reach for after mine's gone.
Nothing bad that can't be worse :) xx Thanks again Lillyanne you've been really helpful.
Hi I may have misadvised you cos I'm not sure if they'll take non natural coloured hair. Shame cos like you say the kids might have loved it
I'm glad you've had some positive news regarding your scan it must be a relief. Hope liver cyst is ok too
Good luck with the Chemo next week
Sending you love n hugs
Lilyanne xx♥️
Secretly glad they won't want my hair. Fancy taking off bits throughout the night....a mohican has to be tried once in my life :)
Right back at you Lillyanne, all the very best xx
Sounds like you're going to have great fun with it
Good on yer! Go for it xx♥️
