JOJO - diagnosed with TNBC and found out cancer has spread

Just been diagnosed with TNBC. Had double masectomy  one in  2018 and  the other 2019. After several lumps and dcis in both breast followed  by 6 courses of chemo I have had no problems for the last couple of years. Recent pet scan has now shown that I now have cancer in 3 places  ie spine  sternum and rib.  I am due to start my second round of chemo which will go on indefinitely.  They have told me that it is treatable but not curable. They have asked if I would consider Clinical  trial  not sure about this.  I have good days but I am trying to stay positive.  I am sure there are plenty of us going through the same.

Hi and a very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear about the spread of your cancer and the fact that it is incurable. It is still treatable though, so try to hang on to the positive. Have you discussed any of the clinical trials with your Care Team? Don't be afraid to ask all of the questions that you need to. You will find it better to write these down prior to an appointment, as it is too easy to forget something important in the heat of the moment.

There are a number of ladies with TNBC on this forum, so I hope that some of them come along to chat to you soon. I hope that you have plenty of support from family and friends. It definitely helps to cope with everything if you can remain positive, although this can sometimes be a challenge.

I hope that the next couse of chemo works for you and that you breeze through that in the same way as you did the last.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Than you. I am still trying to get head around it.

    Hi,

It takes some time to reach acceptance, but it will come as you start your treatment again.

    Kind regards,
