Hi,

I'm 63 yr old male. I had two negative bowel cancer screenings in 2018 and 2021 (2020 missed due to covid). Bout of diarhhea and saw blood in poo early August 2021. Colonoscopy in September revealed a large tumour in my colon (the camera couldn't get passed the tumour) and eventually had surgery in mid-Octobe 2021 to remove it.

Had my first meeting with an Oncologist today. It was stage II, N0,M0. This was good news for me as the doctor who had carried out the colonoscopy seem to suggest that it was a lot worse than that and I was fearing the worst. However, there was microscopic evidence of bad cells in a blood vessel during pathology, so, I've been offered chemo. I was told that as the risk of the cancer returning is so small, there is only a 1 in 30 chance of me benefitting from the chemo.

So is it worth the possible side effects?
