Thyroid U4 THY3a worried about surgery and after effects

Hello everyone, first post here. It looks liike I'm heading in for partial thyroid removal. I'm obviously apprehensive but all the posts here help to reassure me. I've had 3 FNAs to date, and my diagnosis is above.

I was wondering about the after effects of surgery. They nodule they are particulalrly concerned about is near my voice box. I'm a teacher so my voice is important, obviously. For those who have had surgery, how did it affect your voice? How long did it take for you to recover?

  • Hi,

I got my core biopsy result. They said it's consistent with a benign thyroiditis lump but they also can't rule out malignancy. I now have to wait to hear what they decide is best to do next at the meeting. I hope they say to take it out. It also mentioned follicular x

  • Hey I myself have a U4 3F nodule and have been told I am to have surgery. I go back to the hospital on 21st April to recieve my operation date. They spoke to me about the side effects after the operation. I to have been worried, I have 2 daughters and work full time.

I have being trying to stay as positive as I can and continue to do my daily routines of exercise and keep everything as normal as possible. Hope your ok.
