Lump under mole

Hi I've recently had a painful lump under my mole I went to the doctors and he said it's infected yes so he gave me an antibiotic cream to get rid of it, the infection went but the lump is still there the doctor said it's fine it doesn't look cancerous the mole looks benign a week on and the lump is still there everytime I touch it it seemed to get bigger so went to the doctors again he's prescribed me with oral antibiotics and said come back Monday and if it doesn't seem to be getting better I'll have to be referred to dermatology, has anyone had a similar experience? I'm very worried about it to the point I'm losing sleep and not eating well because of it.

  • Hello Hannahmarie1990

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some concerns about a painful mole recently. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things. It's good to know that your GP hasn't had any immediate concerns about things but that they've said they will refer you to a specialist if things don't improve soon.

We know that these kinds of situations can be difficult for some people and it's natural to feel worried. You might find it helpful to have a look at this NHS website which has advice and tips that may help you manage your anxiety. You might also want to give our nurses a call and chat through your concerns with them. I'm sure they will be happy to offer some advice and support. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    I hope things improve soon.

    Best wishes,
