New, Scared and hopeful

Hi all

just wanted to say what a fantastic forum and group of lovely ladies you are.

I had my first on line consult with a GP yesterday after having a heavy period for the first time in 18 months. I know it's all very precautionary but hearing the words "emergency referral"

"within the next 2 weeks" and the dreaded could be cancer has all led to lots of tears, lack of sleep etc.

in the wee small hours of the morning after extensive googling of all the scenarios I stumbled across this forum and was warmed and reassured by the stories that have been shared.

so today I am going to try and remain positive, take my dog for a long walk in the autumn sun and count my blessings.

  • Hi HeJaJa,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. Although Googling symptoms isn't generally advisable, I'm glad to hear that it led you to the forum and that it's been useful for you so far. I hope that it continues to be a support to you, and there will be many others here with similar experience. Hopefully you'll receive further replies soon, but either way you can always browse other discussions and reach out to others on here if you would like to.

I'm sure this will be an unsettling time, but at least the referral timescale means you should get the answers you need sooner rather than later.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
