Waiting results from biopsy following post menopausal bleedi

Hi everyone

I've got a two week wait for the results from a endometrial biopsy and blood test. Gynaecologist identified a simple cyst on one of my ovaries, apparently small at 2.4cm and endometrial thickening 5.4mm. The trigger for investigations was post menopausal bleeding. Obviously hoping the results are negative but I'm wondering now whether I should ask if my ovaries could be removed regardless of the results? Isn't there ongoing risk of developing cancer if the cyst is not removed?
thank you for any comments or advice

  • Hi Pigeon1,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. Firstly I hope it's not too long before you get your results and that the waiting isn't too difficult, although I know it's never easy.

It would be best to discuss this with the doctor/specialist at the point you receive your results, as they will be best placed to advise specifically to you. However it may also be helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses in advance of this, as they may be able to provide some information and insight to help with this. If you'd like to do this, you can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,
