Tonsil ulcer - irritation in the throat.

I went to my GP with an irritation in my throat, like having a hair stuck there, and he refered me to ENT. Today I was in ENT and I was told I have an ulcer on my left tonsil.  The Doctor who examined me told me that it was either an infection or a tumour, and even if it is a tumour it might not be malignant.

In between my examination today and visit to GP I have noted small amounts of blood, and some pain, and one occasion with intense pain and lack of ability to speak for 10 minutes.

On the bus home from my medical examination today with ENT I thought about what the doctor had told me "infection or tumour" and I discounted the idea of infection.  I did this because the doctor didn't offer me anti-biotics.

I'm to be fast-tracked for an operation to remove my left tonsil (my right appears fine so far), and then a biopsy to be performed on some tissues from my tonsil.

Within 3 weeks I should know the results of all this.
