I'm completely lost

Hi All,

I thought I would share my story here given I find myself not knowing where to go. I have been suffering for over a month of symptoms which plague me daily with no reprieve and has me convinced I have a brain tumour. Trying to get any traction with GPs on an MRI is next to impossible, even going down the route of private. So far I have the hint that there 'may be a referall' though bloods came back clean.

...I feel im going insane, as i'm having constant seizures combined with dizzyness, nausea and numbness means I can't focus and feel my life is on hold until I get a proper diagnosis.

One thing I have done, is keep a log of symptoms in the hopes that I may be able to spot a pattern but so far no luck.

Has anyone else been in this situation and or has some advice, that would be hugely appreciated

    Hi Murchie,

A very warm welcome to the forum that nobody wants to join. I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms, which are naturally worrying you. Everyone is entitled to a second opinion. Have you tried making an appointment with another GP in your practice?  There are other reasons for seizures and dizziness and these can be due to less sinister causes than what you're thinking of. However, if your taking these on a daily basis for over a month, these need to be investigated.

If you get nowhere with your surgery, I would advise you to take yourself to A & E next time you take a seizure. This might get you in to the system sooner than waiting for a referral from your GP. It will be very helpful that you have kept a log of your symptoms too, so bring this along with you. Don't be afraid to let the doctors know what you are thinking it may be, as this might spurn them on to investigate further.

I do hope that you find an answer soon  and that this is nothing sinister.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Thank you so much for the warm welcome Jolamine, your message really helped.

That's great advice and some good pointers I will take on board. It can be frustrating not knowing what the symptoms could be, and the doctor not knowing either - my biggest issue is i'm too analytical and over think things to the nth degree. Whilst I know the probabilities, its the constant daily persistent symptoms that grind me down, sometimes i find it hard to keep my mind off it or be positive.

I have found some private MRI services which I think i can pursue also - fingers crossed I can get a breakthrough.

    Thank again!
    Adam
