Worried

Hi everybody just looking to share and reassurance really.  I'm 52 and changed to continual HRT in December 2020.  Next bleed was in April 21, then August and again in September all with PMT symptoms etc and on day 28.  Anyway, mentioned this to GP and was sent for an ultrasound which says endometrial thickness of 6mm.  Radiologist said all within normal limits for age plus on HRT so went away thinking nothing more of it although I did question her comment as I've read that anything over 5mm warrants further investigation.  Today I get a call from GP saying I need a biopsy.  Trying not to be worried but am overthinking the whole thing.  Just feel I need a bit of support and reassurance.  Thank you.

  • Hello janey66,

I can understand why you are feeling worried after your GP called you and said you needed a biopsy but try not to worry too much about it as they are probably just being thorough which is a good thing because it is just over 5mm.

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your biopsy. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
