The waiting game

I'm so glad I found this forum and now know that waiting for results is difficult for everyone at times I think I'm just a negative person but it seems the waiting game is tough.  I had duct ecstasia around 8 years ago with no reoccurrence.  I recently decided I would get the lump checked behind my left nipple but wasn't concerned as my nipple has been inverted for 8 years and I fully expected to be told it's duct blockage again.  Came as a shock to find that's not likely. .  3 biopsies on lump and one in Lymph node.  Words used like worried and highly suspicious during consultation.  To be honest I'm in shock that awful sick feeling in your tummy and another ten days till results appointment.  I asked some direct questions but obviously she wouldn't commit till results are in but in her experience I will be having treatment. Keeping as busy as I can but an emotional wreck right now. Relieved to hear this is the norm for most of you awaiting results.

  • Hello Elvira114 and V1234 how are you two lovelies?

Just wanted to update you both.  I had my first Chemo yesterday and have to say you have nothing to stress about at all.  I had an hours wait as do busy I met some of the loveliest patients men and women in the waiting area and we all chatted it was so reassuring and got lots of tips.  I then went for my treatment and the nurse administrating the chemo was fabulous.  Mine was put in to a cannula  slowly thru syringe not sure everyone's is done like this.  Mine took an hour and we chatted the whole time she was lovely.  I did not feel stressed at any point so please don't worry. I did feel unwell this morning but have improved as day gone on but don't want to say to much as think I might feel a bit more rubbish tomorrow.  I had to go back for heart scan today and didn't feel up to it really but all went fine and spent afternoon on sofa.  I had a fresh soup with bread for tea and enjoyed it, not my normal appetite.  Just know how worried you will be and you don't need to be.  It was quite a nice social experience.  Here if u need to ask anything stay strong and don't worry girls we are going to get through this ️ ️ ️ ️

I hope you're still feeling relatively ok and that the side effects are manageable!

V1234 - I know your MRI scan is coming up too, I'll be thinking of you. Hope you're doing ok at the moment?

  • Hi lovely ladies!

I hope you are both well.

I am thinking both of you. I am always so happy to see a message that I have an email from ine if you great ladies.

My mri is on Monday morning, I am a bit scared but it needs to be done !

I did have a call yesterday from one ofvthe nurses to let me know that my operation is on the 9th of December..I am terrified but again there is nothing I can do ...unfortunately!

I am still waiting for the fish request test and hopefully I will know by tomorrow, if I need chemo myself maybe after the operation...I am still a bit confused as I thought I will have my chemo,if needed ,before my operation but I will wait and see wht the Dr will day tomorrow.

I am thinking of both of you .

    We will make it !

    Good luck for Monday Elvira114

    Stay strong night night xx

  • Hi lovely,

I'm so glad you know when your operation will be, and 9th of Dec is quite soon so looks like they are all over it! Have you already discussed the operation? Will it be a lumpectomy?

Have you meanwhile heard news about the fish test? Hopefully that will give you some more news on the specifics. From my understanding they usually give chemo before surgery either when the tumor is quite large/ you have lymph node involvement, or when you are HER2 positive. I hope for you it's not necessary!

    Keep us posted please ️

  • Hi Elvira114 & Madgee,

I am pleased that he operation is so close ...hopefully I will be OK for Christmas,at home with my family!

I am having a masectomy and a reconstruction at the same time so I am a bit terrified, even if I have discussed everything with the 2 doctors.

The fish request is negative, so no chemo at the start but there might be after the operation.

I am getting my mri next week and then my pre assessment the week after.

I wish you Elvira114 good luck for Monday my dear

Madgee ,I hope you are feeling OK after ypu first chemo and you have a nice ,relaxing weekend

Have a lovely afternoon.  Be strong ,we will make it, we will beat this horrible disease.

Sending lots of love to both of you

    Xxxxx

  • Sending love to you both today girls.  You will be ok Elvira promise I will be in touch with you both soon.  Don't worry lots of water and rest when you get home. Love to you both xxxxx

  • Hi v1234,

I'm sorry I've been out the loop.  Had a few sleepy days after Chemo but turning the corner today and picking up. I'm so so glad you have a date for your operation and you can start the new year knowing it's gone and when you fully recover you will be able to enjoy life once more.  Fantastic news no Chemo required also.  I know it's daunting but it's the absolute best outcome under the circumstances.  My friend has had mastectomy and just had a reconstruction of her other breast so that they are matching and she can feel confident in her body once again.  It's all gone very well and she's making a really good recovery.  I think of you both often and am here for you and Elvira anytime.  Chemo is tiring so been off the grid for a few days but you are always in my thoughts.  Love to you ️

  • Hi Madgee

So good to hear that you re feeling better and stronger every day!!

Also So reassuring to hear about your friend ,stories like these give me strength and confidence that everything will be absolutely OK!.

I had my mri scan for the arteries tody ,everything went well apart from they could not find a vein,so they had to try 3 times...a bit bruised but I will survive.

    Elvira114,

I hope everything went well for you today. I was thinking about you this morning.

I hope you both have a lovely evening and a good rest.

Thinking of both of you . Lots of love xxxx

  • Thanks for your messages lovelies!

Everything went fine and smooth at the hospital yesterday, the nurses were amazing and made me feel so at ease. Came home and got a headache and became quite nauseous but after a few hours of sleep feeling a bit better this morning :) meds for the side effects are helping at the moment, so just trying to drink loads and rest!

Hope you're still doing ok Madgee! And V1234 that your MRI went ok!
