New here

My husband died from pancreatic cancer in July. Last week I was recalled for a breast cancer screen which showed a lump. I had a biopsy and will get the complete results on the 11th, but it looks likely the lump they found was a cancerous lymph node. My mother had breast cancer diagnosed at 57 and died before she was 60 from secondary cancer. She too had it in her lymph nodes. I am 57 this month. I have two daughters, 16 and 18 who still live at home and who obviously lost their father two months ago. Our little cat died on Wednesday very suddenly, the same day I had my biopsy.

To say I am overwhelmed at the moment might describe it well...

    Hi Dodgepodge,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about your husband and offer my sincere sympathy. What a time you've been through! I too lost my mum to secondary breast cancer and was terrified when I was first diagnosed. That was 12 years ago. I had a second bout the year after my diagnosis, but I am still living a busy and fulfilled life. My children were the same ages as your daughters when I was first diagnosed. Since then I have seen them finish school, go to university, graduate, get gainful employment, marry and have a family of their own, so my initial fears were unfounded.

I sincerely hope that yours will be too. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on on 11th and remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
