New to this but this is a bit of my story.

Back in 2018, I had spent a night in the overflow of the hosp corridor with my dad, Man next to us had terrible flu, I caught it.  My glands swelled up and after few weeks, one side never went down.  I felt like a chipmonk.  The doctor said I should see ENT at hosp. They decised to operate and send biopsy for investigation.  Yup came back non hodgkins lymphoma.  So left with scar, and no feeling in my ear, plus every thing I ate made me cringe like it was strong cheese. Eventually put on the wait and see programme at local hosp. Now I know many peeps say this is not heredity, but my mum had same from age of 65, died at 84, brill, but still died of cancer of the bowel.  I am 61. Its not so much knowing, its the strange side effects.. so many things go on in my system that I never ever knew before, and when I tell the haematology dept, they just skip over it. Has anyone found the same?

  • Good morning Jacqueline and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

It must be very tough to be on the wait and see programme but I'm glad you've joined us as some of our members who have non hodgkins lymphoma are on the same pathway so will understand the challenges this brings and will hopefully pop to share their experiences of living with this diagnosis and its side effects with you soon.

If you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our cancer nurses, you're very welcome to give them a call next week on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
