Mole Removal?

A few months ago I posted about a mole I first seen on my aerola, no bigger than a dot, it's been there around 2 years now, it has grown in size since and developed a shade of black in the middle, so I went to the gp who reffered me to a dermatologist who then removed the mole for biopsy. Now I'm waiting on the results, but I just wondered if anyone had any similar stories to tell about your moles/results and where about your moles were.

  • Hi,

There are lots of posts on here from those who have had worrying moles removed. To see them all just search Mole or Melanoma in the search bar at the top the page.

Most people who have a mole removed get clear results whilst the rest are either dysplastic (pre-cancerous) or melanoma. Melanoma tends to occur on the parts of the body that can be damaged by the sun but some will occur on areas usually covered and these may be caused by genetics. I've had 7 removed over the years and only one was melanoma so that gives you an idea as to the odds of a melanoma diagnosis.

I hope this helps. Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

Angie (Stage 3 melanoma patient since 2009)
