Hi Karenk,
A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.
I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you
I am also waiting on biopsy results. I'm extremely anxious. Found a lump and had mammogram and ultrasound and biopsies last week. Very stressed out as doctor said they were "very worrying results", calicifications showed on mammogram and I have since seen my clinical notes which gave my mammogram score of M5. I'm not sure I even have any hope that it isn't cancer in some form.
Thanks Debbie, I'm glad the headspace app is helping you. Do you have far to go for your apt? I find exercise and music help, just having a bit of a dip day, but fortunately tomorrow is a new one and so start afresh x that's the beauty x I'm glad you're in a good place for your results, that's really positive, thinking of you xx
Hi, I also started my journey with a lump and then was told that my mammogram showed microcalcifications also and I needed further stereotactic biopsies. I never saw my clinical notes though, admittedly an M5 score I believe (don't quote me) shows they are suspicious, but a lot of calcifications do turn out to be benign (as do lumps). I understand your worry, did they say what the next steps are for you? Mickey x
No idea re next steps. From my (very extensive!) googling m5 is either probably malignant or an actual malignant visual diagnosis. I was clueless to all this stuff last week! I'm proper panicking just because having a doctor tell me something is very concerning and telling me he suggests I have someone with me for biopsy results has really made me panic. That combined with the M5 score has made me feel pretty hopeless. Sorry to hear you've been through it! Have you had the results of your biopsies yet?
I'm sorry to hear that, do you have a date for your results yet? It's always advisable to take someone with you to results (even if you're clear), it's such an emotional process you need someone with you. I understand your panic and I don't believe that they can ever really be sure if cancer until they have the biopsy results. I've seen plenty of examples of looks like cancer not being cancer and vice versa. I know it's impossible not to worry and I can't tell you what your prognosis will be either, but you will only know for sure when you get your results. Yes, my lump was a rare cancer and I have two areas of different graded dcis, but that's my diagnosis, yours may be completely positive/different - you really don't know, until they tell you. There's lots of positive outcomes all the time. We're all here for you - Mickey x
Thanks - appointment date is Thursday at 12:30! Am literally on countdown for it!
Not long, that's positive - are you taking someone with you? X understand the countdown feeling x
Yes my partner is coming with me. I just feel like I'm swinging between full on panic and then calming myself down thinking it may well be all for nothing. The doctor being so negative really surprised me. It wasn't so much anything he said it was more the total lack of reassurance. And the fact he said "very worrying" about 3 times! Anyway not long to go now. I walked in convinced id be told "fibroidadonema blah blah blah" and now I can't seem to get my head around the fact they didn't! In fact a big part of me is still expecting to go on Thursday and be told "oh it's a finroidadenoma after all!" I'm not sure if that's a possibility or not at this stage.
I often think consultants just don't have the 'people skills' and that makes it so much harder for us at the receiving end . I'm glad your partner is coming with you, you will have support whatever the outcome and that's the important thing, so I'm learning xx Mickey xx
Thinking of you Debbie, here if and when you want to talk xx Mickey x

Hi mickey it's stage 2 invasive lobular cancer, get more
results next week xx
Oh Debbie, I'm sorry to hear that. How are you feeling? Sending a big virtual hug to you? What further results are you waiting for? Mickey xx ️
Hi mickey sorry not stage 2 it's grade 2!! Waiting to see if it's hormone receptive I think. Was a lot to take in but not a surprise. Virtual hug to you too xxx
Hi Debbie, yes it is a lot to take in, be kind to yourself. I thought you meant grade 2, I've been told they won't stage my cancer til post op. Fingers crossed for hormone receptor results. Mine were positive. Do you know when next week? Sending you love and more virtual hugs, Mickey ️xx
Hi Everyone,
I have been following this discussion the last few weeks while I was waiting for a stereo biopsy and even though I have not posted until now your messages have calmed me and reassured many times during the middle of the night. I was due to get my results tomorrow but the breast care nurse phoned to say that the MDT meeting took place and they want to do further testing on the biopsy sample to get a full and.better picture. I am now in next week and can't believe I have to go through another week of waiting. I had a mammogram in June and they found calcifications that were ADH I had a lumpectomy and had a follow up mammogram a few weeks ago and more calcifications showed up. My mind is gone into overdrive and I'm sitting in work trying not to cry. Has this ever happened to anyone x
Hi there, I'm really sorry to hear this. When you say they want to do more biopsies do you meant the stereotactic ones or additional ones on top of that? I was wondering if you had a date for the stereotactic ones. I know a lot of people here got those done quite speedily, but unfortunately I had a delay with mine. Saying that, I did chase and I was lucky after being cancelled myself to getting a cancellation on the day, for which I was very grateful. We're the calcifications that are now showing microcalcifications do you know and in the same breast? Sending you a virtual hug and lots of support Mickey x
Hi Mickey,
the nurse said they need to run additional tests on the biopsy samples they took last week. I had a stereotactic biopsy last week. The calcifications are micro calcifications are in the same breast and same area as the previous ones that were removed in June.
Thank you for coming back to me x
Hi, I'm curious too as to what additional tests they have to run on your sample. Thank heavens they don't need to re-do the actual biopsies, don't know how you felt, but it certainly wasn't my favourite 90 minutes (lol). That's strange that the microcalcifications came back within less than six months in exactly the same place. I hope they do the tests quickly and come back to you next week. The delays do make it so much harder and I totally understand your mind being in overdrive. I found it hard that I had a clear mammogram and within 10 months had so much going on my breast. I still find that hard to process. Sending another virtual hug and post if it helps - we're always here Mickey x
Hi Lillian1
I had Core Biopsies, even sat in the waiting room for them to be delayed, they said it was a backlog and I waited almost another week, but I then had to have a Stereotactic biopsy, again that was delayed because they wanted more testing done on the samples, I waited 3 more days it was awful both times.
I am fortunate that I don't have bc the tests confirmed a sclerosing lesion and benign adenoma.
I hope this in some way helps you, I've since heard this happens quite often, it is terribly traumatic to have to wait after you've prepared yourself.
I wish you the very best, please do let me know what the outcome is.

Hi Lisa,
the Breast surgeon rang me yesterday to say the calcifications are atypical hyperplasia the same as the last time. He said he is just waiting on the final results back from pathology but it looks ok. He said I will need a procedure to remove all the area but it is minor and close monitoring as they came back so quickly. He was very nice and put my mind at ease as I was getting very anxious. I am in to see him next week to discuss it further. I know how lucky I am and very grateful. I found the stereotactic biopsy ok they gave me plenty of local anesthetic and I was numb I have a tiny bruise and a blister from it. But the waiting is awful I had a wait of 4 weeks for the biopsy and it has aged me. I am thinking of everyone waiting on results and everyone who has got results and now facing treatment.
