    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you

  • It was under ultrasound and then they put another marker in and did a mammogram. x

  • That's a relief then, although I know it's still horrid - at least you weren't compressed under mammogram for the vacuum  xx back to the waiting now - sending hugs and glad that hurdle crossed x

  • Goodness yes that would've been worse! This was bad enough. Thank you hun xx

  • Oh Lucy, I can imagine the pain, you've gone through a lot, I'm still sore after my Core biopsy, I think you've been brave

Today I had a complete meltdown as I was promised I would have the results yesterday, what tipped me over the edge was that I spoke to a Cancer UK nurse who said "What makes your results more important than everyone else's" I put the phone down, all I was ringing for was advice, it terribly upset me.

I've exhausted all options and stressing myself out chasing the secretary, I'm at a loss.

If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.

I wish you ladies all the best, I will keep in touch with whatever happens

    Love to all

    Lisa

    Hi Moira,

I'm glad to hear that you got it all over and done with early. Don't worry, the drain doesn't usually stay in for long. I hope that you're not too sore now.

    Thinking of you.

    Hi Lucy,

It does leave you a little soreer than the normal biopsy, but that's it behind you now and not too long to wait for the results, which is good.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Lucy, I had a similar problem today ringing the BCN to check if my results were in from vacuum assist under mammogram and heard at MDT (as I was told to do by consultant and another BCN). The BCN I spoke to was 'quite off'' also and disregarded everything I said I'd been told and kept referring to me needing to be told at my next consultant apt on 3rd November. I was pretty upset when I got off the phone and getting a bit paranoid about why she wouldn't tell me. I've thought about it and decided yes, she might not have wanted to give me bad news, but perhaps she was having a bad day and I'll wait to call another day xx

  • Sorry Lisa, my reply was to you, typo and wrong link I think - sorry xx

  • Oh Lisa, I'm terribly shocked at that nurses comment to you. How awful for you You must be going out your mind.

Thank you ️ It's quite painful now but trying not to feel too sorry myself, people go through a lot worse. I'd also choose physical pain over the mental torture of not knowing results any day. Waiting game again for me now.
I'm so sorry I can't offer any advice but always here for a chat or for you to vent ️

    Hi Lucy,

I am so sorry to hear that you've not had any results today either. This is such a difficult wait and, every day feels like forever. Here's hoping that you get some news tomorrow and,  don't have to wait over the weekend.

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi all

Well, it was my results day yesterday.  I got the news that I expected so wasn't a big shock.  Grade 3, invasive ductal with lymph node involvement.  The plan is for chemo ( 6 sessions over 18 weeks = 1 session every 3 weeks) and then mastectomy.  I feel better for having a plan.  I did have a massive cry when I got home though and am very scared.  I take the positive that it is the most common diagnosed BC and grateful that it is not something rare with limited treatment options.

I don't really feel strong enough for this but know that I have to take it one step at a time. Next step CT scan. Bloods already taken by a lovely colleague at work and then oncologist.

This site has been a godsend and I look forward ( is that weird) to sharing the journey with the support, and supporting others in the same position.

can I just ask if the core biopsy sites take a while to heal.  My was on 12th and still very tender.

    Nikki xx

  • Morning Nikki, thanks for sharing your diagnosis. Here to help you through next stages always, we'll need the support undoubtedly x in respect of core biopsy site, my bruising and tenderness from that lasted about three weeks and was just healing before I got the next stereotactic ones. So hopefully you should feel ok at the site again very shortly. Take care Nikki xx

  • Thank you Mickey.

I hope you are ok xx

    Hi Nikki,

I am sorry to hear that you got the news you expected and not what you wanted. Still, the good news is that it is treatable. Are you planning reconstruction after your mastectomy?

Few of us ever feel strong enough to deal with this, but when our backs are up against the wall, we somehow or other find the strength to see it through. It can take some time for the area to heal after a core biopsy. It is only natural to be scared. Don;t worry about the tears. These are a great stress reliever and, we all have a bubble at times.

The mastectomy is a straightforward procedure. I had a double mastectomy a year after I had a lumpectomy and I found my mastectomy easier to deal with than the lumpectomy.

As you've already discovered, we are all here for you on your journey, so please keep in touch.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Nikki

Really sorry you're having to face this, after my sisters chemo (bowel cancer) we tried to do something afterwards,  although we were somehow detached and in a daze we look back now with really lovely memories, like when we chose to go for a walk but got chased by a cow and had to hide in a bush until it sauntered off (a good half hour) it was doing something that was good for her after something that was difficult, but it did take a few attempts!

I had my Core Biopsy same day as yours, still sore, but now it's only at night, feel like I'm wazzing a bowling ball across when I turn over, the pain just catches my breath at times, I  was advised that it takes 8 weeks to fully heal.

I've purchased a couple of M&S sleep bras, recommended by my friend who had BC I've found they really help. She was 32 when she discovered a lump, it turned out to be invasive triple negative breast cancer, that was in 2014, she's fine now and she's had all clear scans since

Take one day at a time,  be gentle with yourself, if you ever need to offload I'm here and we are all here to support you

    Sending you a warm hug

    Love Lisa xxx

  • Thanks Nikki, I hope you don't have to wait too long for the CT scan and it doesn't hold you back starting the chemo. Have they given you any indication of timescales for this starting? I'm just trying to get through to next consultant apt when I hope I will then have a clear picture of my treatment. It's all just a waiting game. Hugs Mickey x
