    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you

  • Hi all

I have read through this thread and feel reassured by such a amazing group of women.

I am 46 and attended the breast clinic on 12/10/21.  Had a mammogram followed by ultrasound and 3 core biopsies with 2 markers inserted.  I originally went with a relatively large lump that I had felt but ended with the large lump, a much smaller lump and the lymph node needing biopsies.  The radiographer said that she was concerned but the Dr (Registrar I believe) was saying how sorry he was to give bad news,  making me feel he has diagnosed without biopsies results.

They said it would take up to 2 weeks for biopsy results and case would be discussed at MDT on Thursday next week.  I am struggling to deal with this, my mind is racing permanently, I feel lost and like I don't know what to do with myself.  Do they really know for sure without the biopsy results?

  • Hi Nikki, hopefully someone a lot more informed than me will respond to this for you. I'm quite early in my diagnosis and so I'm only learning. My understanding is they can never be 100% sure until they get your biopsy results. I'd like to think if they could that they wouldn't put us through that pain also.  I do think from my own experience though they sometimes they see things that gives them a good idea, but they can be absolutely wrong, hence why they need the biopsies. It's so hard and believe me, we all understand. Personally I had biopsies on my lump and got results they were cancer, but also had microcalcifications and so had to have further biopsies under mammogram which were done on Wednesday. Like you my MDT meeting is held in a Thursday and so now I'm waiting too to find out the scale of my treatment x be kind to yourself x hugs Mickey xx

  • Hi Nikki,

Like Mickey, I'm very new to all this too. I've had ultrasound, mammogram, triple core biopsy and a marker put in. The radiographer and doctor both said they were literally 50/50 on whether it was cancer and that they couldn't possibly tell without biopsy results. I've got a friend who they said they were 99% sure it was cancer and it turned out to be benign! So they really can't be sure. I get my results on Monday.
In the short time I've been in this group these ladies have unknowingly pulled me out of a very dark place. We are here for you ️

  • Morning Mickey

Thank you for your reply, so sorry to hear your diagnosis and hoping you get positive news going forward with treatment.  I agree, I working within the NHS (Midwife) so often see things before return of results.  I think I am am just grasping at straws and the possibility that they might have got it wrong.

I find it so sad yet reassuring to see so many other women in the same position, support from people who know exactly how it feels has helped so much.  Xx

  • Hey Lucy

I will keep my fingers crossed for good positive news for you. Not too much longer to wait, hang on in there.

Again, I totally agree about chatting on this forum.  I feel less alone, I feel more able to get through it all.  Women supporting women in a desperate time of need just blows me away. Xx

  • Morning Nikki,

Thank you, I'm trying to tell myself one moment at a time, but it just blows you away. It must be even harder for you working as a Midwife, as you say you get to recognise certain warning signs and responses from others who may have seen 'something'.
Personally I am the sort of person that needs to know and I was preparing myself for cancer. I've realised though however you prepare yourself it's still a shock.
I hope they've got it wrong for you too, but if not, like you say we're all here to try and help you through xx keep in touch.

    Big virtual hugs Mickey xx
