    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you

    Hi Lucy,

There is no shame in feeling like you do. Most of us find our emotions all over the place at this stage. We also tend to let our imaginations run away with us, leading to the worst case scenario. Fortunately, this very seldom happens. Regardess of what the outcome is, you will feel better once you know what you are dealing with. It's the fear of the unknown that is so hard to deal with.

At the moment, you are probably looking like a very frightened little girl to your workmates, which is why they keep asking you if you're ok. You will find that the more positive you are when giving people your results, the better they'll take it. You're right. Many people don't know what to say , but the more up beat you can be in yourself, the more normally they'll treat you.

I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you, but please remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you so much for such a lovely message. You're right. I was a lot better today and naturally found myself being more upbeat once I'd updated everyone and got the conversation about the biopsies out of the way. Just carried on as normal and didn't really have too much time to think. Keeping busy has definitely helped my mental health today. Xx

    Hi Mariacharlie,

I hope that your rresults are ready for Thursday, as I'm sure that you don't want to wait any longer. We've all got over active imaginations when waiting for results and it's almost impossible to stop them from doing this. Fortunately, things are seldom as bad as we think.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you on Thursday!

    Kind regards,

    Hi JJ73,

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years and know how scary it is to be told that they're pretty sure that you have cancer on your first visit. It always comes as a shock and is hard to digest.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Karen,

I hope that you are doing ok. Well, tomorrow will be another step closer to getting rid of whatever needs to come out. I hope that all goes well for you. 9am is a good early start for you - rather you than me!

I shall be thinking of you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you here's hoping we all get the news we want kept super busy today with the children and just normal conversation that helped and  I'm another day nearer xx

  •

    Hi Lucy,

I'm glad to hear that today was a better day for you. You're right. Keeping busy does help the time to pass and forces us to think of something more pleasant, even if it is only work related. We often compare this to the biggest rollercoaster ride you're ever likey to be on - one minute you're up and the next you're down in the doldrums again. There really is no rhyme nor reason to it, so just go with the flow.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Karen,

This is good news, as the sooner it's done and dusted the better you'll feel.

  • Hi Jolamine,

Definitely a rollercoaster, no matter what happens, this time has been an eye opener and made me think differently about so many aspects of my life. It's like I'm re-evaluating everything.

I just wanted to ask; and I know you will be careful how you answer this but he put a marker thing in my breast. I'm thinking he's already ruled out fatty tissue right?! I'm guessing the best I can hope for now is a benign tumour. Do people have markers put it cysts?! It's like he already knows someone will have to go back in there.

    Overthinking again I know.

    Hi Lucy,

A marker is routinely placed in your breast after you have a biopsy. No, the marker is not placed because you have cancer. It is simply a helpful tool used to identify the biopsy site. The tiny marker can be seen on any future mammograms, which is helpful to the radiologist reading your exam.

Try not to overthink things. Nobody will know what you have or haven't got until you get the results of your biopsy.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi lucy

I have a radial scar initially on a mammogram it looks like a cancer so ive had an ultrasound biopsy followed by a stereotactic biopsy clips put in both times, the results for cancer are clear, but the radial scar may have cancer cells behind it, so yesterday i had a mag seed put in place, which the surgeon is guided by when i get the operation on the 8th of November, so far so good and heres hoping that once its removed that its clear too, but its a journey thats for sure and i get where you are coming from

    Karen

  • Hi Karen,

So happy that it sounds so positive for you so far. Fingers crossed for you that it continues that way. Yes I've been reading up on markers, it seems they use them a lot. My 'D day' is getting nearer. I'll never forget this journey as long as I live. X

  • Morning Lucy

Ive got 3 markers in now well 2 markers and on Tuesday the magseed was put in but, ditto! I feel what you do!!! And if its not the big C lurking about this radial scar it is as you say a journey we wont forget, i just get one bruise away then a couple of weeks later another procedure then another bruise, its just the most dreadful, unknown journey to ever go through its on your mind all the time, even if its not cancer for me still an operation at the end of it, but between the breast clinic and hospital they hsve been brilliant, its just such a personal area, Tuesday taking your bra off in front of 4 strangers i just hated it. Whens your results hunni?

    Karen xxx

  • Oh bless you hun. So horrible. Mines pretty bruised from the biopsy, still hurts too nearly a week later. Can't even go down the stairs without holding it still. My results are on Monday at 3pm. I think I might actually vomit with nerves that morning. I'm supposed to be at a party sat night. Unsure what to do. How can I still enjoy myself with this hanging over me? Just want to hide until Monday

  • Hi lucy

Go and enjoy yourself at the moment its out of your hands i know what the worry and unknown is like, im not out of the woods yet, its so hard to stay positive when something is constantly hanging over us, its the unknown and the waiting but dont let this beat you, im scared every day too as with most of us on here but we will all live to tell the tale,  we all have a mask on and its hard and believe me i wear my mask every day, its gut wrenching, you dont know whats ahead, but we are all supporting each other, at this stage dont let it win before you even know your results but we all think the worst, moods are like a rollercoaster, its something we wont forget going through, but we will get through it! Get your frock looked out, your makeup on and have fun, im going to see James bond tomorrow night lol few drinks afterwards at my new partners house, its only been 3 weeks since i met him, hes very supportive thought id be honest from the start, he didnt walk away he is very understanding but im scared dealing with this with a new person in my life, friends and family are supportive too but i have moments when i want to just be on my own, its very overwhelming but only you girls really get this! Easy for me to say things to people when im in the same boat but regardless what outcomes we get its a journey and something we wont forget but we can do this, so you better get to that party, look a million dollars and enjoy the weekend and forget things for a little while because i am, like you two minds but we deserve a break from this ***, so head held high and enjoy the party xx

  • Hi Lucy

In the same storm, something you said absolutely resonated with me, the fact this rollercoaster of a journey is one we will never forget!

I had a mammogram guided core needle biopsy last Monday, I'm in an emotional state to say the least, my right boob is also still sore and reminding me of this hell we're going through.

I had no lump but a swollen armpit and tender lymph nodes, I waited four weeks until I saw GP, two weeks later I was in the breast clinic, I had a mammogram...Then a 3d mammogram as there was a significant change, then I had US and she mentioned dense breast, hypoechic something and I needed a biopsy. I was gobsmacked as the area was above the nipple, not where I had pain, didn't feel any change in that area...

Biopsy done 12 days after, so I am really hoping this isn't the C because this anxiety will be giving me the C!

I found the process horrible, I cried and went into shock when the radiographer said "You're in the right place, area of concern, significant changes" as if I'm written off with it already, I just wanted to run but couldn't because right boob was jammed in that panini press whilst Picasso was felt tipping the rest to make sure I didn't move!

I get my results 3.30pm on Monday, 30 mins after yours, I'll be thinking of you, glad I'm not alone in this

P.S Go to that party xx

  • Hi Karen,

You're so right. Gut wrenching it certainly is. I feel in my own bubble, like I can't forward plan or even think straight. But you're right, I'm not letting it win before I even know anything and I'm going to the party. Going to try and put it to one side even for a few hours. In my life, it's only the people on this group that understand and I'm so grateful to be here.
So happy that your new partner is supportive ️
    we can do this xx

  • Oh hun,

I was exactly the same. Can I ask how old you are? I found a lump on 18th sept and was at the clinic on sat 9th Oct. I was expecting them to do a quick ultrasound and send me on my way with a diagnosis of fatty tissue. When he said he was suspicious and wanted to do a biopsy I think I went in to shock too. I was the only one crying in the waiting room and felt like a 13 year old girl who wanted her mum. I was shaking uncontrollably.

I'm 37 with no family history of breast cancer. I know statistics are on my side but I'm finding it dreadfully hard to be positive. I've always been a worrier. I feel drained. I have decided to go the party, I need to take my mind away even if  just for a few hours.

I've never been more scared in my whole life about Monday. But at least we will finally know what we are dealing with and can begin to try and digest it.

I will be thinking of you ️
