    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you

  • No true I'm just hoping it's good news but trying to function do every day stuff is hard just doing kids uniforms and then I'm thinking I want to be around to there old enough to take care of them self's I know I'm over thinking this but it was a total shock I wasn't expecting them find anything after I had been examined twice and told they felt nothing and I was on my own didn't ask any questions at all just kept saying yes and thank you it was like I wasn't there strange feeling ...how are you finding it xx

  • Hi, I'm hoping it's good news for you too. It's really hard to function and only natural for your brain to overthink everything. Try to be kind to yourself and accept that it's impossible to just carry on as before and that's ok. I'm the sort of person that needs to know what I'm dealing with and so at least I now know. But I'm in shock, body and brain keeps going into shutdown, but I know that's natural too! Just keep trying to stay positive and give myself one problem at a time to deal with, so I feel I have some control xx hope that helps you too xx

  • It dose thank you ..you have really helped it's not same talking to family they just look at me and I can see there worried so I act super positive and upbeat as I don't want upset them I hope you get news soon on treatment plan as I'm same I can deal better with stuff if I know what I'm dealing with xx

  • I feel the same - family and friends just don't know how to react (understandably), a bit like parenting, no-one gives you a 'handbook' on how to do it. That's why this site is so useful as we're all on our own journey, but we understand the vast array of emotions and challenges that we're all facing in different ways xx be kind to yourself xx

  • I am I've decided get my self sorted having a bath I'm allowed remove the dressings now and going cook tea do something normal xx

  • Sounds like an excellent plan - enjoy the relaxing Bath xx

  • Hi,

I am a little worried my breast has gone hard and swollen, is this normal? X

    Hi June,

It would be worth phoning your breast care nurse tomorrow to see what she thinks. All is possibly fine, but sometimes we get a build up of fluid which may need to be aspirated. This is a very simple procedure and relieves any discomfort immediately.

  • So glad I've found this thread. Had 3 biopsies taken from my right breast yesterday. The mammogram was clear but the ultrasound was suspicious. He said he has mixed feelings about it and won't know either way until the result is back. I have an appointment on 18th Oct. Absolutely petrified. Struggling to function x

  • Hi Lucy37, it's really hard and I know it's difficult not to worry . It's good news the mammogram was clear though. The 18th will feel like ages away, I know, as does everyone on this site.  I have further biopsies under mammogram this Tuesday and so I'll have 2-3 weeks wait before I know the full extent of what I'm dealing with. I struggle to function, but I find this site and the lovely people that respond and support you, such a help and I hope you do too xx Mickey xx

  • Bless you and thank you x

  • Thank you.

I almost feel embarrassed at how badly I'm not coping. I think it's the not knowing. I just have such a bad feeling about it, it's like I've written myself off already. I don't even feel like I can go to work whilst I wait for my results, but then my alternative is sitting in my house alone going crazy.

bless you, sending love to you xx

    Hi Lucy,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

It is always a stressful time waiting for your results. Sometimes, the only way to be certain is to have a biopsy. Only 1 person in every 8 who attend the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis. Not all lesions are cancerous. Many are benign cysts or fibrous changes. Here's hoping that this will be the case for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • They gave me an appointment card before I left for a face to face appointment for a weeks time. I'm wondering if it's good news then maybe they'd call me before instead? Who knows. I just want it over, I can't see me getting through the next week without having a complete breakdown. I'm wondering if the doctor can give me something like diazepam to try and be calmer x

  • Thank you so much. Of course I will let you all know. I think this forum will help me get through the week. I'm desperately trying to be positive but just can't seem to function normally. Why am I so weak? I'm 37 with two kids but suddenly I feel like a 12 year old little girl who wants her mum. I need to try and snap out of it. I literally can't eat or anything. Maybe work will help as long as people don't keep asking me every 5 mins if I'm ok like they have done for the last 3 weeks. It's hard, people just don't know what to say x

  • Hi [@Lucy37]‍ I feel your pain - I'm in the same position and don't get my results for another week. I think you definitely have reasons to feel positive. I want to give you hope and not raise your hopes, but in my experience (end of last week - though it seems like months ago) they made it very clear that they thought it was cancer and I was introduced to my very own breast cancer nurse right after my ultrasound. That was a shock! It's good they're checking out anything suspicious - so much better than missing something - and the future appointment will be to talk over the results, even if there's no further action needed. I hope it's all good for you and in the meantime take strength from the amazing ladies in this chat. I only joined a couple of days ago and am overwhelmed at what people are coping with and capable of. But yes, the waiting is hell and I'm not coping either. Be kind to yourself! Xx

  • Thank you so much for sharing your experience. My GP who referred me was so sure it was fatty tissue but referred me for 'piece of mind' so I went to the appointment assuming it would be a quick ultrasound and off I go. I fell apart when he said I want to do a biopsy. He did say it's normal practice and try not to worry. Im terrbile for thinking the worst in every single situation. I wish I could fast forward time. x
