  • So so glad  to find this chat. I too had a recent breast biopsy -mine was on Wednesday 8 th Sept for the first time and am going back on 15 th for result. Pretty scared. Hope the fact it's a 7 day turnaround doesn't suggest it's bad news , especially as I got 2 titanium clips in.  I'm terrified as lost my sister to (lung) cancer 3 yrs ago and have not really any family near me.  Retired at start of pandemic and I know I'm lucky that I got such a quick response via gp. Trying to stay positive. It feels so surreal at the moment .

    Hi Freyafern,

A very warm welcome to our forum.I am glad to hear that you are due to get your biopsy results back within a week. The 7 day turnaround shouldn't give any indication of the results. This was the normal turnaround pre-Covid and, hospitals are trying to get back to this, because, as you've discovered, it can be an agonising wait. Please don't worry about the clips. This is routne procedure to show the area investigated. It makes it easier for a surgeon to identify the right area if s/he needs to proceed with surgery.

I am so sorry to hear about your sister. It always does feel surreal at this stage, but try to hang on to the positivity. Only 1 person in every 8 who attend the breast clinic gets a cancer diagnosis, so the odds are still stacked in your favour.

Please let us know how you get on on 15th. I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found. Now that you have found this forum, you never need to feel alone. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
