Newbie - lump found.

Hi. New to group. I'm 41, mum of 3 and nana of a little lady. I went to my GP on Tuesday as I found a hard lump on the right side of my breast on Friday whilst led down. It's a very hard solid lump that doesn't move. My GP has referred me to the breast clinic and I have an appointment next Friday. I have had some pain and discomfort in my right breast for a while and put it down to a chest wall Injury I had last year. This pain/discomfort has increased recently, like a sharp shooting pain some of the time. I'm really worried about going to the breast clinic as I don't know what to expect. I have anxiety so like to know what's going to happen so I can prepare myself. I don't mind going alone but would like any advice that anyone can give please as to what I can expect. Im 41 and our family have a history of cancer, my paternal aunt sadly passed from breast cancer when I was 17. Any advice would be a great help.

  • Hi Melz and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry about the lump you've found but I'm glad you sought out medical advice from your GP. I know being referred to the breast clinic must have been quite scary but I hope this information I've found on what to expect at your breast clinic appointment will help calm your nerves and put your mind at ease. I hope these tips on managing anxiety will help as well.

We have many members within the community they have been through this process so I'm sure some of them will pop by soon to share their experiences but in the meantime we're thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed all goes well on Friday.

    All the best,
