Alk positive lung cancer looking to find love

Hi.

I'm 35 with incurable stage 4 lung cancer (never smoked).

I would love to try dating again and meet someone special but unsure if there are any dating sites specifically for cancer patients? Not sure how or when to broach the subject if I met someone off a normal site like match or tinder?

Fear I would get rejected because I can't offer anyone a long term relationship anymore as I just don't know how long I have left. I'm on targeted therapy tablets which could last months or yrs. No way of knowing.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Becky

    Hi Sontai,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis, especially at such a young age. I am sure that Mr Right is out there waiting for you somewhere. Would you consider joining a club where you could meet people first of all? That way you could meet someone who possibly has similar interests to you and doesn't worry about your cancer.

Cancer doesn't have to define you. I am afraid that I do not know of any cancer specificweb sites, but have had a quick search on-line.

There are a number of cancer specific dating sites, although most of them seem to be in the USA. I understand that  Macmillan Cancer Support have created My Mate Your Date, an social media dating service that will raise funds for the charity. People taking part will ask friends to set them up with friends on Facebook whom them think would be a good match. If you look up cancer specific dating sites online, you will find more, but please be careful that the profiles are genuine.

It can be lonely dealing with cancer on your own and I do hope that you find that someone special soon. If you find any good sites, please let us know. In the meantime, please keep in touch and let us know if you have any success. Remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
