Could it be Lymphoma??

Hi everyone.

Don't really know where to start, other than telling you all I'm worried sick...

Have been back and forward to Dr's and A&E for various symptoms, first was a pain under my right rib area, lchanged bowel habit, losing weight and back pain radiating through. Ultrasound showed no gallstones, so sent home and referred to have a colonoscopy. Colonoscopy came back clear along with 3 biopsies which were also clear. A few weeks back I noticed a lump in my neck, referred for an urgent scan, which was put down to reactive lymph nodes. Called the Dr today for a follow up, told him I still had the back and rib pain, pain in my neck travelling down to the tip of my shoulder. I also said when I drank alcohol, the pain gets worse and just throbs all night and into the next day. On noting all this he asked if I had night sweats, which I have had 2 that I can remember, but it is summer so I hadn't put it down to anything. He said he wanted to refer me for an urgent chest x ray. Had it earlier today (thankfull I was seen so quick) radiographer never said anything either way, only asked if I had had an injury recently, which made me worried sick something has shown up and she wanted to rule an injury out.

Dr had mentioned these were symptoms of lymphoma so needed further investigation, so now it's a waiting game really. Can't stop my mind from wandering.

Anyone had a similar experience to mine, good or bad, it will just be nice to chat to people going through something similar.

  • Hello Clabbydoo and a big welcome to Cancer Chat!

This waiting game is certainly something many of our members will relate to and it is normal to find that your can't stop your mind wandering as you are waiting to find out more and to anticipate it might be what you fear the most. I know it's really hard but try to keep busy and focused on other things and avoid looking anything up online as it will only make you feel more anxious.

You've certainly been through a lot recently with so many tests and by now you probably just feel you need some clear answers. There are some helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for news and I hope that you won't need to wait long now to have a proper diagnosis.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
