Just found out after getting rid of lung cancer now found CO

Hi everyone.

As some of you know I'm free from top left lung cancer that top lung been took away in April this year. But about two weeks ago had Sharp pain in left bottom remaining lung had X ray tues 24th August and GP said X ray results say I COPD in that lung. Devastated. Gave up smoking 12 years ago. Never had cig again. Don't know this has suddenly shown up now and not before. My GP has wrote to lung respiratory team about things to do next with like a scan etc. But COPD could also be asthma as symptoms are the same. I'm out breath a lot since cancer operation but COPD can be bad and my life might be cut short yes that's right I can and would die with this if I have not caught it early and the other part of me is hoping it's asthma. I'm on an inhaler. Why this I'm only 46 and really really scared. Been fretting all this weekend since being told Friday 27th August. Any advice would be gratefully welcome. Thank you everyone. • I'm really glad you're cancer free Joby although I'm sorry you've been diagnosed with COPD.

Having come through one tough journey to then begin another must be very frustrating but the good thing is it has been found and once all the necessary tests have been carried out, they can start figuring out the best course of treatment.

I'm not sure how much you know about COPD but you can find out more just here. If you would like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully you'll hear back from some of our members who have contended with COPD soon but in the meantime we're thinking of you and sending our support your way.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello Steph.

Thank you so much for your message I will the nurses tomorrow or next week. Seen my GP today as I'm very more breathlessness not sure if it's COPD or asthma or whether due to to my Left top Lung been taken away. But doctor is going to contact the Hospice for as they do breathing classes there so she said it's not just for people who are in there to pass away they do other things to help people who are not dying. I hope it can help. Still not heard from respiratory team yet will contact my doctor's  tomorrow to see if they have got something back on me having a blow test and MRi scan. Hope the hospital will do this for me so my GP can put a plan in place if it's COPD it's slot to think about but I'm happy I've not got cancer again. And I get my 1st cancer scan this December from after my surgery. Will be very nervous then. It's nice to know I you and others to talk too. Thank you Steph. Joby.
