Yes, I had a lesion found on my liver at my pre-op CT scan - I was having a full node clearance from my groin & pelvis as I had Stage 3 melanoma.
They didn't know if it was the melanoma that had spread so they waited 2 months & scanned again. There had been no change so they were happy that it was a benign mark on my liver that I had probably had since birth. My oncologist explained that our internal organs have spots & marks on them, just like our skin has! That was 12 years ago & I've had no signs of liver problems since then.
Good luck, I hope yours turns out to be something innocent.
Hi thanks for replying.
im a bit scared but also can't wait for my MRI on Tuesday.
I thought they would have been able to tell from a contrast ct.
when I read up on it , it said I'll-defined normally means malignancy.
mess yiurs I'll-defined.
I am still under a doctor every 6months as had invasive scc in my lip 4 years ago.
thanks for your info, hope you are ok
Hello,
I have 2 lesions on my liver, and have had multiple mri scans initially they diagnosed focal nodular hyperplasia which are benign tumours. However they have grown so I've just been sent for a biopsy and will get the results on Monday. Very scary and I don't think I've ever spent so long on Google in my life!
Hi,
Yes, mine was ill defined so it's not always the case it's malignant. A CT scan shows up any lesions on an internal organ but it isn't detailed enough to tell what type of lesion whereas a MRI gives more detailed images, especially of internal organs and other body structures. It's common for a CT scan to be done as it shows up the general area and then a follow up with a MRI (if necessary) to get a more defined image of anything that showed up on the CT.

Oh no hope all goes well for you.
Let me know how you get on x
Wow that's good to know... hopefully mine will be benign too then.
Thanks for replying x
Hi Niki
how did you get on with your MRI? My partner is in a similar situation - lesions on liver post SCC an waiting MRI
x
Hi Lauren
how are you? What happened with your scan? x
Hey! Thankfully they showed that it was focal nodular hyperplasia so no more scans for 2 years and will go from there the relief is fantastic thank you for asking x
Ah that's brilliant news happy for you x
