How should I think

Hello my name is Bev

I have recently had a CT scan because a chest xray showed multiple nodules in both lungs.

The Dr has told me that the CT scan shows Bilateral scattered well-defined pulmonary nodules, consistant with metastatic disease, but no primary lung lesion.

There is asymmetric skin thickening of the partly visible left breast along with multiple enlarged left axillary and subpectoral lymph nodes (measuring up to 3.7cm in short axis) suspicious for left breast malignancy. The findings suggest malignant left axillary lymphadenopathy with pulmonary metastisis, likely underlying breats cancer.

I am due a biopsy on the lump under my arm tomorrow, I am so confused, dont know how I feel and even if i am reading all of this correct, and that I do have cancer, any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Hi Cavomaris,

A very warm welcome to our forrum, although I'm sorry to hear of what has caused you to join us. This is obviously a worrying time for you, especially with so many unknowns hanging over you. It is not until the results of your biopsy come back that you can be certain that this is breast cancer and it could take another 1-2 weeks to get these results back after tomorrow.

Your consultant would not have told you of his/her suspicions unless they were pretty sure that this is the case.  I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years and a number of other scares. On 3 occasions my consultant was pretty sure that I had cancer and, he was correct in 2 of the 3 times. It can be daunting to be told this in advance of a biopsy, but I suppose that it gives us more time to come to terms with the diagnosis before it is actually confirmed.

Even if you do have breast cancer, this is one of the most treatable forms of cancer nowadays, so try not to panic.

I sincerely hope that all goes well for you tomorrow. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
