Breast Clinic Appointment and Worried.

It's my first time posting on here but I've been reading your stories for several days now, and it's given me the courage to reach out, as I'll admit I'm scared.

A week ago I felt a lump in my left breast. My left armpit, shoulder blade and shoulder ache intermittently and sometimes it hurts a lot, as well as aching in the left breast.

I made an appointment with my GP who examined me last week and made the referral.  Today the hospital rang with the appointment for this Thursday the 12th.

I am scared of having biopsies and even the mammogram. I am 51 and postmenopause and have a young son at home. I just don't know what to expect... My husband will be driving me to the appointment and because I have post viral fatigue I'll be using a wheelchair as cannot walk far.

I just need someone to talk to who has gone or going through this.

Thanks for listening and I hope everyone is having a better day xx

  • Yes it was a one stop clinic. No idea why I have to go somewhere else, to be honest I was a bit bewildered by it all .... it wasn't a bad experience but I was hoping for some idea of what this lump might be. Now I find that not only is it unusual but a lymph node is yo be biopsied too ( wasn't expecting to hear that ).

I'm glad you are going to speak with your doctor and hopefully get that referral.  Just isn't right to feel so much discomfort for so long! Let's keep each other updated!

Hope you get some relief soon X

  • That is strange I did think that all tests in one stop clinics happened on the same day. No wonder you feel bewildered as obviously you would have liked some answers today. The waiting is so hard but fingers crossed appts will come through soon for you and you get some answers.

Yes I will keep you updated, it was exactly a year ago I was at the clinic and things are still the same except I am probably more anxious now.

Let me know when you hear anything, I will be hoping everything is fine for you. X

  • Hi Dazey,

I had a biopsy yesterday and it was honestly fine. I know everyone's experiences will be different but they really do take care of you.

I had a nurse hold my hand the whole time and chat away to me. The technician asked me every minute or so if I was okay, and she thoroughly explained the next steps. I didnt feel a thing- not even the anesthesia injection! I'm a little tender afterwards but it's a good excuse to put my feet up. I get my results within 2 weeks.

    I'll be thinking of you

    C x

  • I had everything done on Tuesday in a 'one stop' clinic at Local hospital. Bit sore from the biopsy, I should get the results early next week.
The consultant did tell me though that the scan had shown a 'suspicious' tumour !
I think that the most important thing is to cross each bridge as you come to it. Then only stick to the facts that you have been given and not let your mind run away with things.
