my husband has been on a 4 year cancer journey starting in 2017 with prostate cancer which was successfully treated. Diagnosed with bowel cancer (unrelated) end of 2018. He had surgery which went well but found out in Oct 2019 that it had spread to his liver and in April 2020 to his lung. Been on 3 different chemos which stabilised tumours but on last scan found that latest chemo hasn’t worked and they had grown. Oncologist has told him Lonsurf is the last treatment he can routinely prescribe and after that only option would be to be referred for trials. Started Lonsurf a couple of weeks ago but had to stop as it made him feel rotten and very sick. Our daughter is getting married in 7 weeks after being postponed 3 times due to covid and obviously he wants to not just be there but feel as well as he can. Dr said not having treatment until after the wedding wouldn’t have too much effect and he is going to try a lower dose of Lonsurf along with an anti sickness drug starting a couple of days after the wedding. It seems Lonsurf doesn’t have great results with bad side effects and only works in 1 in 3 patients. Would be really interested to hear people’s experiences of this treatment good and bad.
