CT scan waited a month why so long
CT scan waited a month why so long
Hello Rivers1234,
Waiting for results can be a very anxious experience. As you haven't heard anything for a month when CT scan results tend to take about 2 weeks, it might be worth contacting your doctor or nurse or the doctor who arranged the test. They will be able to look into this for you and give you an update as to why you haven't yet received your results. I think after a month, it's definitely worth chasing this and I keep everything crossed for you that you find out more soon.
Best wishes,

Hi,
So sorry to read that you have been waiting so long, sometimes waiting is the hardest part of this journey.
That said, I can't think of a worse time to undergo an investigation on the cancer care pathway. NHS cancer services were overstretched before Covid-19 was first identified and now that restrictions are being lifted there is an horrendous backlog of diagnostic investigations to work through. The pingdemic hasn't helped. At one hospital I'm working at 29% of staff working on cancer investigations were off due to a combination of Covid app pings and self isolating due to testing positive or kids being sent home from school because someone in a year group tested positive.
That said, it is always worth chasing your result up by phone and explaining why you are so concerned about the delay. The NHS is staffed by humans and it s always worth trying to push things. Quite often there is nothing to distinguish between a routine scan like my regular scans to check nothing is getting worse and those of a new patient where getting the result early is so important.
Don't imagine anyone will think any worse of you for politely but firmly chasing things up - that's just what they'd do if the roles were reversed.
Good luck!
Dave
Waited just over a month with an all clear so don't worry. Belt and braces check. Uk is the best health service in the world!
