Anxious and waiting

Hi all,

I have recently moved from the UK at the end of last year. Last week my mum called me and somehow I already knew what she was going to say "I have breast cancer".

She is being super positive about it, and had her MRI today, with a follow up appointment for next Friday. Im in constant touch with my family who are stlll in the UK, and other than calling my mum feel a little bit useless so far away. Im very thankful for my family who live near her and other than staying positive when we talk I don't know what I can do.

I keep coming across this forum when I search about her symptoms so just wanted to stop by and say thank you and tell you where my mum is currently at in her journey

  • Hello T0pcat

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. It's obviously a difficult time for you all, especially as you're not physically able to be with your family.

It's good to hear that your Mum is being positive. This will certainly stand her in good stead for whatever treatment she is recommended to have. I'm sure that she is very grateful for you being in touch and checking in with her so often.

I hope that all goes smoothly for your Mum's treatment. Keep in touch T0pcat if you need to chat with others who understand or are looking for any information. We'll do our best to try and support you.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks for your kind reply Jenn,

unfortunately her cannula before the MRI was inserted incorrectly so they have to redo it. They gave her the option of redoing the MRI on Monday so she could still keep her appointment to discuss results next Friday. However she has asked them to put it back a week so she can take a short vacation with my sister as she hasn't had a holiday in years and from what she has been told another week will not change things.

definitely sucks to be waiting longer and still little anxious in case that week might have changed things in terms of outcome but I also totally get that she needs a break as she hasn't been away in over ten years and that itself will do her some good
