Ovarian cancer

Hi I have a raised c125 level of 40 so I am going for a pelvic ultrasound to hopefully rule out ovarian cancer. I had an ultrasound last year because I've been having really crazy periods I'd come on but be very light non stop for a few weeks until I got given the holiday pill then it would stop then when I was next due on it would. Do the same again then I'd be 10 days late or few days early... Anyway I had a scan and come back as 'bulky ovaries'  which I'm assuming is cysts back then I didn't have a c125 level tested only this time.. I have lower back pain like a dull ache on my tail bone I'm waiting for my scan but absolutely terrified because of the level, crazy periods and dull aches that there's something wrong has anyone had similar symptoms and been fine or be diagnosed as pcos(my hormone levels are fine)

  • Hiya Skyeh

Thought I would just say hello. I am in a similar position to you with having tests and being scared of what's going on.

I had an ultrasound  3 weeks ago for what me and the Dr thought was probably gallstone pain, she ordered the transvaginal one as well as I mentioned I had some bleeding which wasn't like a normal period. The US picked up a mass on the right ovary and I was referred on the 2 week cancer pathway. I had to go for bloods and saw a consultant 2 weeks ago. She confirmed my CA125 was abnormal and said they would more than likely be removing it, she also said there were things about it that were concerning and things about it that weren't.

I had a MRI yesterday and am now just waiting for news on what they think it is and what the plan is.

My symptoms are pain when breathing in on my right side (now gone) a dull ache and heaviness in right side of stomach, sharp stabbing pains that come and go and the 4 or 5 occasions of black bleeding and clots I had (take cerezette and do not get periods at all)

    Take Care

  • Did your bloods come back for high platelets because I have to go for a pelvic ultrasound . I think it is to rule anything out

  • The CA125 came back too high but I wasn't told what it was, but I had mine after the ultrasound which had already picked something up.

Hopefully when you have your US they won't find anything and the CA125 could be raiser for another reason.

  • I have also got to have a chest xray and a stool sample  . Just a little worried. Hope things go ok for you both . I have already had a scare in the last year.
