3 year old with enlarged lymph nodes in cervical neck

Hi

looking for a bit of maybe reassurance or real life experiences..

my 3 year old has had lumps in his neck for some time. One has sadly grown to about 2.5cm on the right side but he has others around this bigger one a total of about 6. He had tonsilitis around 4 weeks ago and it's as though he's never got over it despite anti biotics. The tonsils remain extremely enlarged to and I have since found out they are part of the lymph glands too so I'm even more worried. He has a terrible appetite and will happily not eat which is a new thing. He was seen and had some bloods taken which came back with a high lymphocyte count. Now I have been googling and I'm absolutely terrified. We are awaiting a neck ultrasound and chest X-ray which paediatrics have ordered on a rush through.

  • Hi there and welcome to Cancer Chat, although I'm sorry for the reason you find yourself here. Waiting for results can be very stressful but it sounds like the investigations are being done quickly.

Whilst I appreciate you wanting to hear other people's stories they may be very different to yours so it can be difficult to compare. If you need to talk things through with one of our nurses you can call them Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Best wishes and I hope you get some reassurance soon.
