Need advice please

Hello I am new to this forum, I had  chest x-ray 4 weeks ago and it showed a growth in my left lung which measure 7 centimetres. I was told that I needed a CT Scan, but there is a huge backlog at the moment. I don't know whether it is malignant or benign, I have some breathlessness on exertion, pain in both my scapulars. How could I get an early appointment and if that isn't possible what do I do?

Many thanks Mairi

  • Hello Mairi

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health problems recently and that you're now waiting for a CT scan. It's obviously a very worrying time for you and the fact that your scan has been delayed will undoubtedly leave you feeling more anxious.

Have you spoken with the hospital to find out if they're able to give you a rough time frame of when you may expect an appointment? If you're able to attend at relatively short notice it could also be worth asking if they hold a cancellation list.

If you feel that the wait for the CT is particularly long then do get back in touch with your Consultant or the GP (whoever ordered the scan) and let them know about the backlog. If they feel that the scan needs to be sooner they can try and expedite things for you.

In the meantime, if you'd like to chat with our nurses for some support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope that you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
