How to deal with chemo sickness

Hi all

Like many people I find that chemo makes me feel rather sick.  I refuse to waste my food by being sick!  I have found that the anti-sickness pills make me worse.  I feel better when I stop taking them, therefore after a few days I stop them.  Another way of feeling better is to jump on my bike and cycle round the local lanes, I live near to the countryside.  Now these local lanes, along with the main roads are very bumpy and full of pot holes that need avoiding. The bumpiness is so much that my insides are jiggled around so much that they forget to feel sick!  So there is a method of dealing with sickness, it also provides exercise that I enjoy, although a few days ago a large black cloud decided to empty itself over me!  I am now using the cycling to do fundraising for cancer research.  My aim is 1000 miles in 100 days.  I still have a way to do.  Now if it has stopped raining I will do my next 20 miles.

  • Hi JGi,

It's fantastic to hear you've found a way to help with your situation, and a very positive and proactive one too. It may not be for everyone, but I'm sure your post will provide some help and perhaps inspiration to others looking at the forum in future who may be in similar situations.

Wishing you all the best for your continued efforts and your fundraising.
