Ovarian Fibrothecoma - Risk of Malignancy

Hi Everyone,

I had an MRI a few months ago that confirmed I had an ovarian fibrothecoma that has been considered benign by MDT but they can't rule out malignancy without surgery.

the waiting list for benign surgery is 12-18months. I got the consultant to agree a follow up MRI that is in a months time to see if there's any change to the lesion.

does anyone have experience of a Fibrothecoma?

I know I should be relieved that the professionals think it's benign and I am but my anxious mind is still worried sick that there's a risk.

thank you for reading

  • Hello Deb2359

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with a health concern at the moment. it's natural to feel anxious about things and many people find that even after good news and reassurance from the Consultant that they continue to deal with some feeling of concern.

It's good to hear that the Consultant has agreed to monitor things whilst you're waiting for surgery. Hopefully this will give you some peace of mind.

I've had a look through the forum and I can't see that we've anyone who has mentioned an ovarian fibrothecoma previously. If you'd like to have a chat with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    Best wishes,
