Awaiting results of Breast Biopsy

Hi All

I am another one awaiting results.  52 years old.  Went for first routine mammogram screen and they picked up an abnormality in right breast.

Went back yesterday and had further mammogram,CDT and ultrasound.  Radiographer said it was an indeterminate nodule around 1cm but was asymetric in shape and was concerning.  Was very far back in the breast and certainly cannot be felt and otherwise had no concerns so such as shock.

So relate to the scared ladies on here and awaiitng a call Monday with an appointment time for Wednesday to obtain results.  Worried sick but trying to throw myself into work to take my mind of stuff.  All of those awaiting results, here with you and fingers crossed for us all.

I personally have very hormonally sensitive breasts (always painful, tender and prone to swelling have been for years linked to cycle) perimenopause but still have periods.

How our lives change in an instant eh :(

Take care everyone and will update with my results next week.

  • Hello Marillojools,

Waiting for results is indeed the hardest thing and many on our forum will relate to how you are feeling at the moment or will have been through this before. Time can truly feel interminable, the minutes feel like hours and it's hard to take your mind off it. I can imagine this weekend is particularly hard for you as you are waiting for this important call on Monday followed by your results. Not long now though before you get a definite answer.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. You're taking the right the approach in avoiding thinking too much about this by focusing on work and keeping busy and distracted. There are some helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine. Keep us updated next week if you get moment.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks so much for your reply. This really did help.

Had my results and thankfully a Fibroidenoma.  They asked if they could tell me over the phone so I knew it couldn't be serious.

To all those women going through the same and awaiting results stay strong.  So frightening the wait and the thoughts that run through your mind.

This is a wonderfully supportive forum
