Not trying to sound rude, but it sounds like your partner is a bit of an ***. At some point during my year long treatment my girlfriend had found a lump in her throat and i made her get it checked out. A couple of days before her scan we had an arguement and I forgot about the scanI feel like crap because I told her to get it checked.

I guess there's 2 ways of looking at it, on 1 hand he could have called in sick, arranged a shift swap etc so he could go with you. On the other hand, maybe he's not sure on how to deal with this sort of situation?

Everyone is different how is he when you're together?

I'm currently having chemo and my partner hasn't always been able to come with me when I went for checks etc. 

As toughmuddertim said he may not know how to deal with it as your relationship is in early stage.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. I can also add that I had a car accident last night ( nothing too serious ) but he chose to just send a text and waited more than 2 hours to call to see if I was ok....

My instincts are he doesn't know how to handle it but we're no youngsters... both 59. I've brought it up today after my scans and he replied he couldn't have got time off and I didn't ask him to go along. I shouldn't have to ask....

This is a guy who I spend 4/5 evenings with have met family etc. who says he wants to grow old with me.... but this response is a huge red flag to me.

It does sound abit worrying that he took so long to call after your car accident I think I would be concerned too. 

Maybe he has past history for worrying etc regarding hospital apps, stress in certain circumstances. I do think maybe be wise to sit together and talk things through.

And well he called an hour ago and ended the relationship by phone... saying he finds it all too overwhelming ( I lost my job on Friday too ) and could we not see each other for a while and then see how it goes ? And how long would that be for ? Oh I don't know says he. Until I no longer have any problems says I ???

Life isn't like that now is it ?
