Waiting for results

Hi,

This is my first time posting,

I had a tonsillectomy for histology and a pan endoscopy, ive had a very large left tonsil for 5 years with a horrible cough ive had swollen Lymph nodes in my kneck and under my chin for over a year now,

i was getting food stuck in my throat ive be told off my surgeon that i have GERD .

for 8 months i had milky fluid coming out my tonsils ,  neck pain , numb tongue and on a morning i have blood streaks in my sputum and out my nose,

4 weeks ago i had a my tonsils out and they got sent away for histology and also i had a panendoscopy they took biopsy i had a few stitches in my throat,

I was told i would get a phone call in 3-4 weeks with my results , ive just recieved a text to say my consultant will ring me in 4 weeks time ,

So thats 8 weeks i have to wait for my results

Is this normal?

Is no news good news ? And why cant they just send me a letter to say its all clear .

Thankyou

  • Hello DebbieMc18,

8 weeks  is certainly a long time to have to wait to get reassurance. Perhaps to give you peace of mind, you could try ringing your doctor's surgery or the hospital, for example the consultant's secretary, and you could ask whether they could at least tell you a little bit more about these results.

I hope that you manage to get a little bit of clarity on this before you speak to your consultant in more detail about everything.

I am keeping everything crossed for you for good results!

    Best wishes,
