First appt at the clinic… do they give you an indication?

Hi all

i have an appt at the breast clinic on Tuesday. I found a small lump on the side of my breast near my armpit. GP referred me on but said he wasn't worried as I am under 30. He said it was smooth and moveable (to me it feels connected to breast tissue so when you move that then it moves, I'm not sure the actual lump moves).

I know I'm likely to have an ultrasound, but not a mammogram

as I'm under 30. Do the nurses / dr give you an indication of what they think at this appointment? Or do you have to wait for the results of any biopsy?

Very anxious about all of this.

  • I think clinics are different , I was referred from routine mammogram, I asked the dr as she was doing ultrasound & she said yes it was cancer & showed it to me , it was one small tumour , nothing else . Then things got a bit weird as when I saw the nurse she refused to discuss the cancer , she said we don't until you get biopsy results .I've subsequently complained about this , they need to be consistent in clinic . Genuinely , now im Post lumpectomy , 1/2 way through radiotherapy , the not knowing & anxiety is the worst , the actual process & treatments really aren't that bad . I really feel for you because when we don't know , we worry so much , take care , all the best

  • I was recalled from screening so had further mammogram and ultrasound plus biopsy. The consultant told me then it was cancer but I would have to wait for biopsy results to confirm. When I went back for confirmation I was then booked in for surgery.

It has all been removed but due to the type I had I've just started chemo and will also need radiotherapy.

Do you have an appointment yet?
