Health anxiety is making me really down, neck swelling

I dont want to cause offence to anyone on this forum who is going through illness.

I've posted previously about a swelling on my neck it is on the right side below and slight behind my ear when my neck is in a normal position it cannot even be felt but when my neck is turned I can feel a hard swelling and visibly see it.

My partner can see and feel it, I've visited a GP who wasnt concerned as I have no other symptoms and said its positional but everything online leads me to sinister diagnosis.

I am constantly worried about it and I cant find anyone the same!

  • I'm very sorry for the worry this is causing you Powderpuff.

If you have more than one GP at your surgery you could try getting a second opinion but if that's not possible do try and be reassured be what the first GP has told you. I know that's easier said than done, especially when you still feel something is wrong, but they know what they're looking for and if they thought it was any cause for concern then they would have carried out more tests and/or referred you for further investigation.

Many of our members know how tough it can be to live with health anxiety so I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice but in the meantime you may find some useful tips and resources for keeping your worries at bay on Anxiety UK. The information and advice given on the NHS website may come in handy as well.

I hope this helps and you're able to get the answers and peace of mind you're seeking soon.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi,

I went to see my nurse practitioner again she had another good feel and told me she thinks that's just the way my neck is,I'm more worried because I'm terrible at googling which obviously always shows the worst outcomes.

I also have support from the mental health team who are in honesty everything BUT supportive.
