Small pea sized lump on breast

Hi all, hope you are all well and enjoying the nice weather.

After getting out the shower this morning I noticed on my left breast that there was what appeared to be a slightly raised red area which looked kind of bruised (hard to tell as full of stretch marks from the kids). I felt the area where it was red and found a small, hard, pea sized lump. I've tried to move it but it feels like it's attached to breast mass if that makes sense? It doesn't hurt but the area is tender now as I have been trying to see if I can move it. I couldn't say it is circular. I know I need to see a GP and will call on Monday. I'm 28 and have 2 children. I'm trying not to jump to conclusions but the fact it's so hard, solid, and not moving is worrying me a lot. Has anyone had anything similiar? Where a red / bruised area has appeared where the lump is? The lump is quite deep, it's not part of the skin area if that makes sense. It honestly just feels attached to breast tissue. Almost like petruding from it.

thank you

  • Hi!

hope you're well! I am also in a similar situation as you however I'm 20 years old with family history of breast cancer. I found a lump in my left breast a very long time ago but didn't think much of it because of my age, so I forgot about it thinking it would go away(or that it was normal :/ ) my gran was just diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer and I decided to check the area to see if the lump was still there, to my surprise it was and it had actually grown very large( I know a lot of people say theirs is pea sized, however mine feels more like the size of a golf ball, especially when lying down) It is also very hard, painless and immobile. Went to the gp last week and she looked quite concerned and referred me to the breast clinic for further investigation.

Regardless of it all, we both should stay positive, because the statistics show that we both have more of a chance of the lump being benign than cancerous!! As hard as it is, there's no point dwelling too much on it, although it's easier said than done! Try to occupy your mind as much as you can until your referral or gp visit, and of course if you notice any other abnormalities get them checked too!! Wishing you all the best!

  • Hi,

thanks for the reply. I went to the GP and have been referred to the breast clinic. GP couldn't feel lump at first as it's tiny. He said it's smooth, round and moveable. I'm not sure what I think. It feels attached to the breast mass which moves, I'm not entirely sure that the lump it's self moves but I'll trust the dr judgment. he wasn't concerned at all though given my age, said it's likely a f ????? ... but referred me just to be safe. Trying to manage my anxiety about it as best I can. But I just have a horrible feeling in my gut about all of this. When is your appt?
