HPV positive normal cells

Hi everyone,

I have just received a hpv positive diagnoses but my cells are normal.

I am absolutely terrified and constant googling is giving me anxiety but I feel I need answers so I can't stop looking.

I received the vaccine when I was 18 but had a couple of sexual partners before then so may have been exposed but now I'm 29 and my last smear 3 years ago was negative.

I've been with my partner for a year and a half and he's so supportive..next year we want to try for a baby and I was so excited before all this. Bearing this in mind we don't use protection and we are completely monogamous. I've read online you share hpv strains with your partner and you can't pass the infection back and forth you both build up immunity and clear it. Can someone shed light on this?

im also worried if I develop abnormal cells between now and beginning of next year the treatment will affect my chances of having kids .

thanks for listening xxx

  • Hello Samey1992,

It's important to note that HPV isn't cancer, but it does need montioring. It's good that your cells were found to be normal. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better, so it's best to stay away from Google. The only person that can diagnose you is your doctor so don't be afraid to talk to them if you are still concerned.

    I hope this is helpful,
