Hi I'm new worried I've ovarian cancer

Hello everyone :) how are you all?

My GP hasn't said they think its cancer but I'm struggling to cope with my thoughts my anxiety is up and there's no one I can really talk to without worrying them too so hope it is ok for me to post here in the hope maybe someone has experienced similar symptoms etc.

A little over 2 months ago my period just stopped. I'm 43. Been getting abdominal pains excess gas pelvic pain right side overy pain that goes round to back at times. I was getting hot flashes but they've eased off..just feel too warm sometimes but not that sudden rush of heat. GP did internal and I was tender when pressed on my lower abdomen pelvic area. Bloods done and ca125 is raised (don't know number wasn't told) urgent referral for ultrasound and to gynae to see what is going on. Bloods for hormone profile and prolactin came back as satisfactory. GP never mentioned cancer but when the test result came through for the ca125 she phoned me to inform me and to get a bit more history etc. Trying hard not to think its cancer. I know could be anything else. My question though is has anyone had their period stop all of a sudden and hormones don't indicate menopause? If so can ovarian cancer stop your period?

It's 3 weeks since referral was made..I've received a text from hospital saying they got the referral letter and I'm on outpatient waiting list for next available appointment. Could be weeks away.

Sorry for long post my anxiety is raised thinking and worrying just thought maybe if I put it in writing so to speak it might help me calm down.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story :)

  • Hello Angel7

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems recently. We know that this period of uncertainty whilst waiting for appointments, tests, and results can be particularly difficult and it's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

It's good to hear that you've heard from the hospital and that you're on the waiting list for an appointment. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our team of nurses. Sometimes it can help to talk things through with someone and I'm sure the nurses would be happy to try and offer any advice and support that they can. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you have some answers and reassurance about things soon.

    Best wishes,
