Swallowing difficulties - panic

Hi,

When I swallow I experience a squeezing sensation in my throat, also the glands directly below the chin ‘pulsate’.  I’ve had this problem for over 3 weeks, today GP has referred me for blood tests and to ENT.  Am petrified of what’s to come.  Had early breast cancer last year which was majorly scary, but compared to this a lot easier to handle.   Swallowing problem is awful especially when I wake during the night and start over salivating.  Have been madly searching ‘Dr Google’ which I know isn’t the best idea.  It’s just that I want to try and mentally prepare myself for being told I have a tumour in the throat or oesophagus or any other place the ‘little blighter’ might lodge!  I’m rambling, but anyone had experience of similar?

  • Hello Jeanjo

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some new health problems recently. It's understandable with all that you've been through that you're feeling concerned about what this may be.

Please do stop consulting "Dr. Google". He is notoriously inaccurate and won't give you any answers. All it will result in is you feeling much more anxious about things.

You may find it helpful to give our team of nurses a call. It can often help to talk to someone and I'm sure that they would be happy to chat things through with you and offer any advice and information that they can. they'll be back in the office after the bank holiday on 0808 800 4040 (Mon-Fri 9 am-5 pm).

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
