Colonoscopy waiting outcome

Hi !

I'm new here, having recenty undergone a Colonoscopy resulting in 8 biopsy being taken. Just wanted to speak with anyone who had this shared experience?

Easier to speak on here then to family- as not wanting to worry them about details at this time x

  • Hello,

im in the same boat as you. I had my colonoscopy last Monday and from what I had read I presumed I would find out there and then whether I had anything sinister, I never considered another anxious wait on biopsy results.

I am trying to stay positive by telling myself that anything found will be treatable.

sending you best wishes, I hope you don't have to wait too long for the results

  • Hi,

Thanks for your response! I had mine yesterday and like you had thought I would be told outcome at the end,  wrongly assumed not having to wait for biopsy results.

Orriginally I read 2 biopsy on my paperwork...but on re- reading today ( sadation free ) There were 2 from sections of bowel....8 in total ! The has worried me more.

Do you know how many biopsy taken?  And when you would hear ?

Hope we both hear back real soon X

Sending well wishes too,  keep in touch xx

  • My paperwork doesn't say how many biopsies were taken. All I remember is the consultant saying she had taken biopsies from numerous spots as I had signs of inflammation which initially I felt hugely relieved about but once the sedation wore off I was really worried about.
I have an appointment for the results on Thursday so I'll let you know how I get on

  • Hi NellaNicole,

Hope your appointment went well today

  • Hey, thanks for thinking of me.
My biopsy results still weren't back in time for my appointment today!

The consultant asked if I had asked to see her. I told her the receptionist had called me to make the appointment which had caused anxiety as I wasn't expecting a call two days after the procedure! I think there has been a lot of procedural changes and confusion in the NHS due to Covid.

The consultant put my mind at rest as it was an opportunity to talk through what she could see on the colonoscopy. She is going to write to me with the biopsy results but has asked me to retake the calprotectin test, if the result still shows inflammation I will be having the camera pill to have a look at my small bowel.

Hope you get your results soon x

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear results weren't in at time of consultation appointment. Seems odd that it was made prior to results? Maybe an error in timings only ?

Pleased that you had the opportunity to ask more questions face to face...... I have more now then at time of procedure !! Not sure sadation helped to think clearly at time ! Lol xx

Have you had any results yet ?

I called G.P receptionist and nothing through on day 9 !   I just want to know now !  I've been googling...not great ! And overthinking...worse!

What will  be, will be......but feel stuck In time !

Hope you are doing okay? And results are in for you soon xxx

  • Still no results. 17 days since my colonoscopy. I'm taking it as a good sign!!! Fingers crossed for us both x

  • Everything crossed for us both ! X

  • Any news yet ? X

I'm.still waitting - if nothing by 11th June G.P surgery said they would investigate to find answers...

Everything crossed...the waiting is so tough ! Xx

  • Just an update...I'm still waiting for Biopsy results -

I checked with G.P last week  and as I was originally told , 3 days up to 14 days at most - either phone or Letter.

I was adviced by receptionist to contact Hospital secretary , I did and there is no record.of my colonoscopy report on system yet !

I am a little concerned incase the has been an error somewhere.

The G.P Manager called me back and said she is waitting till this Wednesday 15th June. ( 22 days ) and if nothing will escalate further.

In the meantime I have an appointment with GP now for a smear test and blood tests for tomorrow. I'm guessing to rule out anything else going on?

Symptoms still same as before colonoscopy.... and he wait and worrying is definitely making me much worse !

Just want the results now so I can plan next move ...whatever that may be !
