Definite Puzzle

Had a heart attack in 2011 and was prescribed Simvastatin. Took them for a while and then began to have muscle pains in my arms. Did some research, was horrified, saw the doctor and said I wasn't going to take them. She agreed but didn't offer an alternative. I weighed 13st.7lbs and began to lose weight. I thought that was great and assumed it was my new lifestyle. By the following year I had lost 2 stone. Now I am 7st 4lbs and with no answers. In 2013 I fell heavily, landing on my chest  and it wasn't long before a strange sensation began under my ribs as though there was a belt which tightened when I ate certain foods, the first group being fruit (fructose) This belt extended to my back and as though I have a burning plank of wood strapped to it. Sitting, standing kicks it off but on a recliner or lying down it disappears. I now apparently have COPD, heart failure and a shadow on my lung, however the the breath test was administered incorrectly and the ECG result was also wrong. (Carried out again at the hospital and told it was fine) so there are major question marks.I've had a range of blood tests, all normal except for the heart. I also now have a reaction to lactose and have to be very careful what I eat  but I do eat well. I've more or less got my body reactions under control but no one can answer the question as to why it all stops when I lie back or lie down. Surely that is possible damage from the fall? Not knowing is driving me NUTS!

  • Hello Leajayse,

It definitely sounds like a puzzle and I hope you can get some answers soon. It would be worth bringing all this up with your doctor. If you feel you would like to get a second opinion on this, you can find out more here about how to see another GP to discuss these issues.

I hope you hear from others here who have experienced similar symptoms and that they will share their story with you

    Best wishes,
