Lletz

Hi all I'm new here I'm just looking to see if anyone else had a bad experience at colposcopy. I have always had regular smears and they have always been fine I had a smear in September 2020 the nurse rang and told me I need to have a colposcopy exam which she arranged for me to have I went in October 2020 I was called into the room I was told I had cin 2 before they even done the colposcopy then I went in to have the colposcopy the nurses were speaking to me about Christmas ect they didnt show me anything on the screen and just said I needed a biopsy didn't tell me what they seen nothing so they done biopsy then told me I'd get a letter with results which I didn't receive till January the letter said I know have the results of your lletz treatment this has confirmed the presence of precancerous cells as we expected no cancer cells were seen no adnormal cells remain therefore we have arranged for you to have a smear test in 6 months time.why did the letter say lletz treatment when they told me I was only having a biopsy has anyone else had experience like this.looking forward to some feed back thanks

  • Welcome to the forum Adele although I'm sorry to read what has happened.

If you haven't done so already, it may be worth getting in touch with the department or clinic that carried out your colposcopy to find out more but if that's not an option then your doctor would be the next port of call.

Hopefully some of our members will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if you'd like to have a quick chat with one of our cancer nurses about this, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
