Newly diagnosed

My son (aged 42) has just been diagnosed with throat/tonsil/neck cancer, we're not sure which yet. He is finding it almost impossible to swallow. He has bought a Nutrabullet, but does anyone who has been through it have any more advice. Thank you so much.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Peakay although I'm sorry to hear about your son's diagnosis and the difficulties he's having at the moment.

A soft diet can help with swallowing issues - you can find out more just here - but if you'd like to speak with one of our cancer nurses in more detail about this then do give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members from the head and neck cancer community will offer their tips and advice to you soon but do feel free to join in on any discussions you find about this when using the 'search forum' option in the purple bar above.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Steph, thanks so much for your reply and advice. At the moment he can't swallow anything that isn't liquid, even a smoothie is too much for him, but I'll get him to look at liquidising soft food. It's all trial and error, I know.  I'll also look through the forums.

Thanks also for the contact number, I'll call them if I need to.

    Kind regards
