Grandma26 - new to the forum, here's a little about me

I have just joined and posted about letrozole and weight gain but I am now introducing myself

I am 79 and had a lumpectomy 14 months ago I was prescribed letrozole I live a healthy lifestyle, exercise daily and eat well and fortunately never had a weight problem or joint problem. I was never on any medication  before and I am now gaining weight and having joint pain in my thumbs and elbows but at the moment I am managing the joint pain. I have 3 children and 4 grandchildren ages 9 to 26 I have not had an appointment since I had my op but I am sure there are people more unfortunate in this respect

I look forward to hearing from you

    Hi Grandma,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear that you are beginning to find a few minor problems with Letrozole. I am also a grandma. I have 2 children and 2 grandchildren. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years. First time around I had a lumpectomy, followed by Tamoxifen. i discovered another lump in the same breast the following year and had a double mastectomy followed by Letrozole for 6½ years.

I had a lot of side-effects, but still feel that they were worth it, as I am still here. Some people get no problems at all with hormone therapies, but others do. If you can cope with what you have, keep perservering. Unfortunately, my weight has always yo-yoed. I put on a lot of weight too, but have managed to shed 5 stone over the past few years. I stopped taking this in July 2017, but still have joint pain.

I sincerely hope that your pain doesn't get any worse.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
